Johnnie did a great job guiding us through the park, finding good subject matter, and brought reflectors and lighting so we could try different shots of the same subject and learn about the effects. Great learning event, thank you!

I rarely delete any of my shots unless there are technical problems that cannot be overcome. When I initially reviewed my shots from this series I wasn't sure what I might do with it but I felt like it was a good capture. This shot was done in studio against a 50 grey backdrop. I used a series of overlays to give it a dreamy background. I hope you enjoy!

The interesting thing about the background in this photo is how the day unfolded. It had been gray, cold, and sleeting nonstop, with ice steadily accumulating on the branches and power lines, growing heavier by the hour. As the sun set, it cast a warm glow behind the ice-encased trees, creating a stunning glare and lighting effect. The ice on the road added to the s

I have passed this old barn hundreds of times since moving to the area and almost always I think to myself "there is something there". Well I finally decided i was going to work the scene and find the magic in this barn. I went to the home I assumed owned the property and to my delight the owner was happy to let me photograph their old barn. The light was fading so i had to work quickly. I shot several angles but this was one of my favorites.

Driving home after out playing with my camera taking photos on my co-workers farm, I drove past this dam. I've never seen it before as I'm still relatively new to this area. I immediately pulled off the side of the road and grabbed my gear. I am a follower of Gary Gough, a fine art photographer on YouTube. He said one way to learn is to copy someone else's work to learn and get better. So that's what I did. LOL. Using his teachings I combined long shutter speeds with ND filters that allowed me t

As part of my final project as a fourth-year photography major, I chose to explore and document Calgary?s sculptures, which embody the history and heritage of its people and landscape. One of the highlights of my work is By the Banks of the Bow, one of the largest sculptural artworks in North America. To enhance the visual impact of the image, I utilized Photoshop, particularly to create a dramatic sky that seamlessly complements the dynamism of the horses and the cowboy. This piece celebrate

This long exposure shot is from August, 2024. I was visiting Liberty State Park, New Jersey. From Liberty park you get such an AMAZING view of the NYC skyline looking across the water. It?s awesome during the day but even more magical at night as you can see. I?d recommend a visit here just for the views to anyone.
